Fall is here, and as the former Oregonian that I am, I'm so ready for the cooler weather and cozy outfits!


A common question I get during this season is:

What do we wear to our session?


Here in The Woodlands, fall doesn't always feel like "fall", ya know? So I'm here to help! This post will share everything you need to know about coordinating outfits for your Texas fall photo shoot. Lets get started!

1.  COLOR PALETTE:

Cohesive, not Copy-paste

Your color palette may be THE most important part of coordinating your outfits ~ This is how we go from  'basic white tees and jeans' to the next level.

EARTHY BOHO


Think warm, grounded tones that mirror the season:

burnt orange, mustard, olive, rust, and creamy beige. These colors photograph beautifully against fall backdrops and bring a natural, cozy vibe. Flowing dresses, light-weight sweaters and soft fabrics make this palette feel both effortless & elevated.

Neutrals & Denim


Creams, taupe, soft gray, and classic denim are timeless and perfect for a laid-back, cohesive vibe. Denim jackets & cotton shirts add texture, while linen or lightweight knits keep the look cool and comfortable in a warmer Woodlands fall.

Jewel Tones


Deep emerald, plum, burgundy or mustard can feel rich and fall-inspired without being too heavy. Stick to lighter fabrics and short sleeved options, layered with airy cardigans to stay comfortable in the Texas sun while still getting the seasonal depth in your photos!

Patterns + Textures:

The secret sauce



Once your color palette is set, add depth with textures and subtle patterns. Textures like denim, knits, corduroy, or suede give dimension to your photos, while patterns like small florals, flannel, gingham, or stripes add interest without overwhelming the look.

The key is keeping it balanced: one or two patterned pieces with solids and textures will give richness without looking busy ~ and choosing lighter fabrics ensures everyone stays comfortable, even when Texas fall is -inevitably- warmer than expected!
